‘Space: the final frontier’. Third sector organisations working with Children and Young People are finding it increasing difficult to locate suitable premises from where they can deliver their much-needed services. The Venue Bank is a digital platform which brings interested parties together to help overcome the common challenges that contribute to this.
Who
This is a joint project lead by The Mix, a free and confidential multi-channel advice service for young people, John Lyon’s Charity, a funder of children and young people’s charities in North and West London and eight Young People’s Foundations (YPF’s), local Charities based in eight North and West London boroughs to Capacity build and grow the sector at grassroot level.
What
The Venue Bank provides members of the eight YPF’s the opportunity to purchase, at competitive rates, local space to deliver in. The spaces on offer can come from a variety of organisations – third sector, public, local business and faith groups.
Where
Members of the eight YPF’s that operate in the John Lyon’s Charity Beneficial Area can purchase venues via the site. These boroughs are:
- Barnet
- Brent
- Camden
- Ealing
- Hammersmith & Fulham
- Harrow
- Kensington & Chelsea
- Westminster
How
The system is simple to use and helps overcome a number of barriers which currently make it difficult for organisations to find space including:
- A directory of space with clear listing of availability
- Clear listings of what each space can accommodate
- Online bookings and acceptance
- Online payments
